GAETI DAY 20: SURVEY, CEUS, SHOW AND TELL OUR WEBSITES AND PROJECTS, LAST DAY

Today has been a great day. Its our last day. I'm sorry I did not BLOG yesterday, but I was working on my lesson plan.  I worked until 7:00 and stayed up to 1:00 am in the morning.

I am so glad to have been chosen to be a part of this journey for the past month. I have attended each day and I learned so many things from all the profesionals.

We traveled to a coal mine in Mississippi, we visited art display, archeology and geological museums on MSU campus.

The IHL grant has been a blessing to me as a teacher because I am interested in technology but I needed one on one training.

I learned how to BLOG, how to incorporate technology in my lessons.  Creating a Weebly, and creating links for activities on my assignments would be great for my students. Wordle will help my students learn vocabulary, Remind 101 to contact my students is great.

I enjoyed creating my art project.
Everything was great.

GAETI DAY 18, Infographics, Padlet.ccom, Buble.us,

Today we went over INFOGRAPHIC materials on the web. we looked at

 https://www.padlet.com
  https:// www.bubble.us.com

Creating digital content Infographic is used to show share the date with others
https://www.Piktochart.com is a tool, thatis used to create graphic for school, blocks are used to place info

AUDIO FILE
For my spanish classes I will be able to use: select a picture and the describe it by recording using audioboom, its free, and it allows a 10 minute maximum usage. More than enough for my beggining students.

 https://www.audioboom.com

CANVAS
We learned to create a new course on canvas.
Its free but there is a file size. But its not much of a problem.

Inbox, you can sent a message to students and teachers.
Dashboard create a new course go to New Course, write course name, create course
We looked at CANVAS modules and creating new pages
Module Rubrics was a great.

Today I actually uploaded a video on YouTube today with Flat Stanley, Esteban el Plano, Hope and I worked on this this week. We are planning on using it in our classes.

GAETI Dia 16: Finish Video, Art, Lesson Plan

Today Hope and I organized our video clips and finished our movie. We had written the dialog and I recorded it using my voice. Together we choose the clips and organized them in the order we wanted to tell our story. Hope worked on some of the special effects like adding music, the Callout. We had fun doing the project. We discussed how it is possible that our students may be grouped in twos or three but no more. I can't wait to show it to my students.

I worked on the background for my art project today, and cleaned my glass coffee pot. Can't wait to finish it. I was disappointed that the frame will have to come out of my pocket.

Worked on my lesson plan today, I need to create a power point and down load some videos (Salsa Music) from YouTube.

GAETI 2015: DAY 16-DIA DIECISEIS; LETTER TO DISTRICT, MOVIE WITH FLATSTANLEY, LESSON PLAN

Monday morning
Today we completed our letter to our Districts for technology advancement. Having students bring their own devices is a cultural transition. The fears in the communities are genuine, worries about children being exposed to child predators, addictions to technology do rob children from their play times and parents want to be in charge WHEN they feel that their child is ready to tackle the world of technology. Lot of real issues and hurdles to overcome in the technology advancement.

Today we finished producing a practice movie. And  today Hope and I went on an adventure, creating our own FlatStanley story. We want to prepare a story in spanish so we could use with our students and have them create their adventure with him when school starts. It took us a while with thinking about what we wanted to cover, considering the level of Spanish that our students are learning.  We went to the library, the footbal stadium (outside), we walked over to the Barnes and Nobles and actually left him on a counter and had to run back to get him. It was hot today. Then we took him to Subway to have lunch and we helped him to go home in an envelope at the Post Office.I cant wait to download the videos and work on the speaking and music part.

After lunch we worked on our lesson plans. I changed mine to music, I want to cover music this year with my second year students and holidays with my first year students.

We are finishing the day with art.

GAETI 2015 DAY 13, DIA TRECE SKYPE, TK MARTIN CENTER MSU, ART, WEBQUEST PROJECT. Las Explora' DORAS

SKYPE:
This morning was fantastic, we started with a Skype visit to CHILE, WE MET  Miguel Alarcon a semi-retired Technical English professor in one of their universities. He was proud of the changes that have come about in his country. He expressed how it was now a democratic country. Learning to adjust to the changes that come along with new democracies.. He was very possitive about his beautiful country and fellow citizens. He explained about his country's diverse climate, Hot in the north, medium temps in the middle, and freezing cold weather in the south. He reminded us that they use the metric system there.
I asked about university students and how they fund their education. He said that next year they will be free.\

Today we visited TK Martin Center at MSU
I think that every teacher and administrator should be aware of its existence and the wonder resource that it provides to anyone who has been injured or is born with disabilities.

YouTube
We learned how to record a power point presentation and save it on YouTube

Art was fun

Blogs and Wikis
Blogs is individual work
Wikis multiple participants contribute to the work

WebQuest
We are working on a project that we will be able to use in the fall.
Hope and I are working on a project for Spanish Heritage Month.
We want to use La Voz as our inspiration , and let the students research a person, create a product; a trading card, compete against each other by impersonating that person- selecting one of the person's work and share with the class, they may opt to record themselves with the iPads or place it on our YouTube for our class.

GAETI DAY 8:/DIA ocho: LESSON PLAN, ART, GAMEBOARD.

Hoy es miercoles. Hoy es el santo de mi nietecita Elizabeth. Tiene cuatro anos.
ISTE Standards
Technology planning
Collaborative learning:
We worked in small groups today, we followed the model given in class. I might incorporate fairytales in Spanish in the reading part, and I would also use this style of research approach in teaching the universal holidays throughout the Spanish world.

SMART Board:
Dr. Huang went over the different things that a smart board does.
I hope one day to have one.
Would be nice to use one. I will continue using my apple tv and my ipad  and projector and laptop to get it done.

Arts and crafts\
It was a nice break away from the computers and lectures. Our students need those breaks also. I personally feel this is great at the end of each semester, especially at the end of the year when the students are testing for hours and they are in and out or our classrooms.

Making board games
Board game idea great, must have alot of time to produce because I am not very familiar with excel, time consuming trying to learn all the right buttons to push. I would probably have the students create them.

GAETI DAY 7: DIA SIETE: BUBBL.US, WEEBLY, KAHOOT.IT, BOARDGAMES, EXCEL, PROJECT BASE LEARING, DUTOPIA, ARCS TECHNOLOGY WISE LESSONPLANS

Hoy es martes, es el dia del santo de mi madre. Ella cumple 76 hoy.
Today is my mother's birthday, she is 76 years old today.
Today's work in class has made me think on how far we have come in this world. I remember a classroom with no pencil sharpner and having to sharpen my pencil with a knife in class. My poor teacher would guard her chalk because there was not an abundance of supplies for her and her students. Our classroom had some old desks left over from the 50's. And we would have to go home for lunch every day and then come back to class. There were no long weekends because school was from Monday through Saturday. We were so proud of our notebooks covered with newspaper so they would last throughout the majority of the school year. Our uniforms were worn more than once before my mother would have to hand wash them. I went to school clean every day and I was proud of my teacher and our school.

Today we have so many options in materials to work with. Our technology is far more advanced than anything that I had ever dreamed of as a child.

Two of the technology tools that I am most likely to use in my classroom would be the webpage from Weebly and the games from Excel

How do you plan to use these?
I plan on creating a webpage that will have the daily work from class and videos and homework assignments for my students. I would create a bushiness card with the information so that my students and their parents would have the opportunity to learn how to contact me and keep up with our work in class.

Because I am a foreign language teacher, I feel that games are important for my students to engage in real language practice. I am looking forwards to create games for them and create opportunities for the students to create games for themselves and younger children in their communities.

GAETI: DAY 5-QUINTO DIA 5 de junio de 2015 JOURNAL/ 21 CENTURY SKILLS/ LESSON PLAN Today

Hoy es viernes el 5 de junio de 2015.

Today I journaled over the week's activities. I am considering creating a BLOG for my classroom.
Providing links to games and game creating apps.
Today we talked about wrting  a proposal and get donors to help you with your project
Its important to create a catchy phrase. Limit your spending to $400 project.
The project stays alive fro 5 months.
Most will respond within 3 days of your proposal.

The Donors will give you a seven day window of opportunity check for promo Codes.
Ask donors for $5.00
usn vendors like Amazon, there are hidden fees involved. look at the small print, look for the optional  donations.
follow up with "Thank you" notes. Share photos too. Use social media when possible.

Go FundMe does not require a proposal. Use WePay method, has a slight fee.
The donations that you get is up to YOU. Your are responsible for your order and shipping. No third party involvement.

www.frontrowmath.com

I would like a smartboard in my room. But a more attainable object to get would be a jump drive that allow you to record.

GAETI-DAY 4: CUARTO DIA: TRIP TO : PP, FIELD TOUR; EXPERIMENT POROSITY, PERMEABILITY AND MOISTURE LAB

Today I traveled to  Mine. I was happy to go there because I live in that county. We were treated with some food, Im glad they had fruit.
The power company is Southern co9mpany who sell its power to TVA 440,000 homes.
The young lady that led the class shared a powerpoint that showed us about Geo Science
the North American Coal Cooporation.

www.lignite.com/facts/whatis.com

the pp showed this site but it is not public

We were able to see that we have two power plants in our state and several others throughout the country. As a foreign language teacher I thought it was interesting that there is one on the US/Mexico border that will also provide power for our neighbors to the South. Mexico. so controversial.
The name of the company is called " Camino Real Fuel- in Texas

The terms "lignite, decomposed, non-oxidized plant material .

MDE
The morning started with a MDE rep going over lesson plans and evaluating them according to their alignment to the standards.  Had handouts for it. He use history.
"Does the lesson plan align with the standards they mentioned on the lesson plan?
Looked at "vocabulary" taking time to introduce new vocabulary checking background knowledge. "Submarine"  definition to our modern reader. Things I ask myself "Do I even need to learn or say this words" Teachers process this in seconds, must teach the steps to students so it becomes natural to them.  Remember to ask students probing questions.. Use writing essays to help them think.

In the afternoon we did a Geo search activity. Used QR codes, how to create them

DAY 2 GAETI GOOGLE+ (GOOGLE PLUS), MAPS,GOOGLE EARTH PRO (free to use),KINSEY COLLECTION, CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, LAURA HALL SPANISH, OWL TEACHER.COM, EXCEL

DAY 2  an interesting day, I enjoyed the Google plus and Google Earth Pro very interesting tools for teaching about geography and locations of countries and capitals. I would like more time to practice using the various features on creating our own map. The students would create their own maps and insert real pictures and videos of real places.
The Kinsey Collection was very interesting, how nice of that family to share their resources  with us.

Laura Hall came by with many interesting resources
CAN DO STATEMENTS is free to download and create a new binder with the information

WORLD READINESS GUIDE
and
IMPLEMENTING INTEGRATED PERFORMANCES ASSESSMENT

GOOGLE VOICE  for FREE recording

contact  DIANE  about the interactive notebook
Donna Paget from Forest hIGH School

I really need to learn how to use EXCEL

Think:  What  in an ideal world would my  Spanish class look like?
I would like for my students to have their own iPads or wireless laptops work with.
My classroom would have an electronic board of some kind. Promethean board.
I would like a cd that contains all of the existing Spanish Textbooks along with lesson  plans and have the ability to be automatically updated with the most recent additions and new lesson plans.  I know it exists for Economics would be great for Spanish.
